Unions Fischer found Trimmel’s statements “a bit unfortunate”

Between Union Berlin’s coach Urs Fischer and his captain Christopher Trimmel, according to his statements during the week, there was a need to talk about his deployment times.

“There was an exchange. I also have to say that I was surprised and found it a bit unfortunate, to be honest,” said Fischer on Thursday before the Köpenicker game on Saturday at TSG Hoffenheim (3:30 p.m. / Sky). “But that is not an issue that we discuss in public. We will discuss that internally and that’s a good thing,” said the 57-year-old.

Trimmel had recently expressed dissatisfaction with his reduced working hours after Josip Juranovic’s commitment in winter. “The coach also felt that it was on my mind. I’m the captain of this team and there should always be a captain on the field and I have that ambition too,” said the 36-year-old.

The Austrian said he was surprised that Fischer spoke of a new role for him. Fischer said there are “sometimes unpopular decisions, difficult decisions, but that’s part of it.”

Against Hoffenheim, defender Robin Knoche is questionable in fourth place. The 30-year-old is ailing, said Fischer. “I hope he can start training again tomorrow.” Midfielder Andras Schäfer, who has to sit out again due to a setback from his foot injury, will definitely be absent.

“It’s a shame for Andras, I’m really sorry,” said Fischer. He needs to keep a positive attitude and gets all the support from the club.
