Union to 90 percent again in Europe

By Matthew Koch

Top prospects! Union has been the Bundesliga leader since September 11th. With the 2-0 win against Wolfsburg last weekend, the Berliners even defended their place in the sun during the international break.

Of course, the fans hope that Union will still be at the top after the next game on October 1st (3:30 p.m.) in Frankfurt.

And of course the Iron fans want their stars to be allowed to play internationally next season.

Statistically, it is almost certain that the Köpenickers will travel through Europe again next season. The data professionals from Sportec-Solutions checked where the teams that were at the top after 7 match days ended up.

Lo and behold: 9 out of 10 teams were at least sixth on the last matchday. Union grabs 90 percent of Europe again!

If seventh place is enough for international business, as in the last two years, the probability is even 93.3 percent.

At Union, despite the strong start to the season, staying up in the league is still the priority. Midfielder Janik Haberer (28): “We can continue to play so successfully. Nevertheless, it is important that we know where we come from. The priority is that we get 40 points as quickly as possible.”

Oh yes, in 47.5 percent of the cases (i.e. in 28 out of 59 seasons) it was even enough for the championship title. However, 19 of the titles go to Bayern, who often enough circled alone.

But Union fans can still dream a little of the title…
