After 74 minutes a remarkable incident occurred. Union coach Nenad Bjelica was shown a red card after shoving Bayern’s Leroy Sané in the face with his hand.

Bayern suffered its first home defeat of the season against Werder Bremen (0-1) on Sunday. Coach Thomas Tuchel’s team also had difficulty scoring against Union, number 15 in the rankings. Raphaël Guerreiro made it 1-0 just after halftime from a rebound, after Harry Kane had hit the post. A goal by the English striker was then disallowed for offside.

Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt played the entire match for Bayern. Compatriot Danilho Doekhi remained on the bench at Union.

Liverpool are in the final of the EFL Cup (also known as the League Cup). Coach Jürgen Klopp’s team drew 1-1 against Fulham in London and that was enough to advance after the 2-1 in Liverpool. Liverpool will play Chelsea in the final. That match will be played at Wembley on Sunday, February 25.
