Becker and Jordan also presented themselves from their best side against Lower Saxony. Both scored one goal each and thus further extended their lead as the most prolific attacking duo in the league with a total of nine goals (to the overview). “They were phenomenal,” said Union head coach Urs Fischer after the game. Jordan was signed for just 6 million euros to fill the gap of striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who moved to Nottingham Forest for 20.5 million euros – with success: “Jordan is new and has replaced Taiwo very well,” Fischer summed up.

1. FC Union Berlin: Becker and Jordan – The chemistry is right

When asked about his counterpart, nine-time USA international Jordan told TM Area Manager US, Manuel Veth: “I work very well with Becker. We’re not only friends on the pitch, but also off the pitch. We had great chemistry from the start. We’re both uncomplicated guys, and that just works very well for us, the mutual understanding is great and will continue to grow in the future.” Becker, who moved from ADO Den Hag to Köpenick on a free transfer in 2019, made a convincing development at Union – six goals and four assists in seven Bundesliga games speak for themselves. When the contract was signed, Becker’s market value was 1.25 million euros, and this has now risen to 7 million euros. Another plus as part of the upcoming Bundesliga update on Wednesday cannot be ruled out.

Despite the attacker’s positive development, Fischer believes that Becker could be even better: “We know Sheraldo’s qualities. He has to look for one-on-one situations and use his speed, be braver and, like Jordan, attack the first post more often.” Meanwhile, Jordan is also putting the brakes on the euphoria: “Every match is the first match,” says the striker who is involved hits the same horn as his coach, who emphasized: “We still have a lot of work ahead of us.”
