Union Berlin: Alfred Schreuder and Raúl coaching candidates

“Image” report

With interim coach Marco Grote and assistant Marie-Louise Eta, the struggling 1. FC Union Berlin is preparing for the Bundesliga home game against FC Augsburg on Saturday (3:30 p.m.). After 14 games without a win in a row, the new coaching duo must above all do some mental building work for the “Iron”, because things continue to happen in quick succession: on Wednesday (9 p.m.) in the Champions League at SC Braga, three days later in the league at FC Bayern (3:30 p.m.). And meanwhile the search is underway for a successor to Urs Fischer.

According to the “Bild” newspaper Alfred Schreuder is a candidate. A more concrete trail should lead to the former coach of TSG Hoffenheim and Ajax Amsterdam. Schreuder fits the profile of a coach who already has Bundesliga experience and can deal with stars.

Schreuder most recently worked at Al-Ain FC in the United Arab Emirates, where his contract was terminated by mutual consent almost two weeks ago – despite 13 wins in 15 games. The reason given was a lack of consistency between Schreuder’s and his employees’ working methods and the work processes in the club.

In addition to Schreuder, Raúl is also a coaching candidate at Union Berlin

In addition to Schreuder, Spanish legend Raúl will also be a topic at the Alte Försterei. The former Real star knows the Bundesliga from his playing days, when he scored 28 times in 66 games for Schalke from 2010 to 2012. So far, Raúl has only worked as a coach for the Madrilenians’ youth teams. Raúl is said to have recently rejected a request from S04 about the departure of Thomas Reis.

Oliver Glasner, coach of Eintracht Frankfurt until the summer, is also still a candidate for the bottom of the table. There were rumors about the 49-year-old shortly after Fischer left. The names of Ralph Hasenhüttl and Bo Svensson, which are also traded, come to the “Kicker“According to this, however, this is out of the question. President Dirk Zingler recently announced that the search for a coach would be a careful process that would not be undertaken under time pressure.

After Fischer’s exit: Union Berlin looking for a coach – Glasner a candidate?
