Unfortunate defeat: Bielefeld also goes away empty-handed in Hanover

Status: 10/15/2022 10:43 p.m

Arminia Bielefeld was unlucky in Saturday evening’s game (October 15, 2022) in the 2nd Bundesliga at Hannover 96 and continued to carry the league’s red lantern. The 96ers won 2-0 with a lot of stupidity and thanks to a late goal.

Cedric Teuchert gave Hannover an early lead (4th) and dominated the early stages. Arminia only got into the game mentally after 15 minutes and were unlucky twice when Masaya Okugawa hit the crossbar and Oliver Hüsing narrowly missed a chance. For his part, Teuchert scored for the Reds for the second time before the break – but the VAR rightly conceded the goal because of an offside position.

Little pace after the change of sides

After the break, both teams found it difficult to get back into the game and there were few chances. The highlight was a shot from Bielefeld’s Jomaine Consbruch, which again hit the edge of the hosts’ box (63′). The “Reds” developed almost no offensive drive and only had their second chance to score very late: Havard Nielsen increased the lead to 2-0 with a free-standing header shortly before the end of the game (86th).

First cup, then Hanover in Nuremberg, Bielefeld receives St. Pauli

On the 13th matchday of the 2nd division, Hannover has to compete away in Nuremberg (October 22nd, 2022, 1 p.m.). In the evening (8.30 p.m.) Bielefeld is fighting for important points at home against St. Pauli.
