Almost four months after leaving Spain’s head coach, Luis Enrique said in an interview with the radio network “Cadena Ser‘ commented on his future. When it comes to future decisions, he wants to “keep all options open,” continued the Spaniard, who had also been linked to a possible post at his home club. Asked about the speculation about second division Gijon, Enrique said: “Not at the moment. (…) In the future? Surely. If I ever do it, it will be with the freedom that my experience as a coach gives me. Maybe in five or ten years, if I feel like it and Sporting is interested.”
The former midfielder, who scored 103 goals in 400 LaLiga games and played for Real Madrid for five years and Barcelona for eight years during his career, has also had “several offers from national teams”. However, Enrique said there was no contact with the Brazilian association, whose national team was coached for the first time on an interim basis by U20 coach Ramon Menezes after Tite’s resignation last week.
