UN buys tanker to prevent oil spill off Yemen coast

The United Nations has purchased an oil tanker to prevent an oil spill off the coast of Yemen. The UN ship is to be sent to the Red Sea next month to transfer the equivalent of 1 million barrels of crude oil from the aging tanker FSO Safer. This has been announced by Achim Steiner, the head of the UN development agency UNDP.
