UFC’s Saturday night in London had a great atmosphere. However, the pinnacle event received a gruesome decision.
The expected heavyweight main event by Tom Aspinall and by Curtis Blaydes sometimes stopped quickly. The match was behind only seconds and a few blows, when the leg of the home crowd’s favorite failed.
Officially, the match was stopped for Blaydes’ technical knockout victory in 15 seconds.
– I wanted to show here a real storm warning and that I am ready to fight for the championship. Words fail me. I didn’t want it to end like this, Blaydes said after the match.
– Now we didn’t get to see which one of us is really the better man.
During Blaydes’ comments, Aspinall left the cage in a cart with his leg tied to the posts. The British crowd made a huge noise all night, but the ending was a real disappointment. London’s O2 arena went completely silent.
Makwan Amirkhani lost his own match on the preliminary card to the American Jonathan Pearce against. Yankki won with a technical knockout at the end of the second round.
