The final in Budapest is against France, who beat Spain 3-1 (0-0) in the evening. The fourth and last European Championship title came in 2009, when the 2014 world champions Shkodran Mustafi and Mario Götze were there. “We’re really proud of the boys,” said coach Wück after kick-off. “I hope that Germany will now also notice that a generation is growing up here that tears itself apart on the pitch for the national jersey and brings the German mentality to the pitch – just as it used to be.”
