The lawsuit on the murder of four Dutch journalists in El Salvador in 1982 was postponed to 3 June. The lawyer of one of the defendants had to undergo a medical procedure so that the process cannot start.
Koos Koster, Jan Kuiper, Hans ter Laag and Joop Willemsen ended up in El Salvador on 17 March 1982 in an ambush from the national army, all of them being shot. The foursome was in El Salvador to report on the violent civil war that held the country in its grip for the public broadcaster Ikon.
After forty years, it became clear last summer that a lawsuit is being filed against the suspects. Ex-colonel Mario Reyes Mena is the main suspect. Two years ago, the former Minister of Defense General José Guillermo Garcia and Colonel Francisco Antonio Morán were also arrested.
