More than five million user accounts have already been opened for Threads, Meta’s just-announced Twitter competitor, says Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg says on his Threads account. For example, news about it Reuters.
Among the users are many well-known names, such as a pop star Shakira. The application has also been discovered by many media and streaming services such as HBO and Netflix.
Meta is known, among other things, as the owner of the popular social media platforms Facebook and Instagram. It markets Threads as a byproduct of Instagram, where you can chat, write posts of up to 500 characters, and post pictures, links, and videos.
Threads was announced early Thursday morning Finnish time in the Apple and Android app stores. The platform does not yet work in Finland or elsewhere in Europe, as its release has been delayed due to regulation.
