Something bizarre has happened in the private life of the well-known media expert Lars Duursma. His Ukrainian lover disappeared ‘out of nowhere’, together with her mother. “Nightmare.”
Lars Duursma was not heard for two weeks this summer in the popular media podcast De Communicado’s. The communications expert and TV expert acts as a informant for the infamous Dutch celebrity basher Victor Vlam, but on those two August days in question, his colleague had to do it all alone. And that raised questions.
Annoying reason
Where was Lars? What had happened to him? Victor was very mysterious about it at the time: “Lars is not there and that has a bit of an annoying reason. There is something going on in his private life that is just a bit annoying, sad and that means that the podcast was much less of a priority for him this week.”
Victor did not want to say at the time whether it concerned, for example, a death or serious illness. “Sometimes there are things in life that are more important than the podcast and Lars is in such a situation right now. He has to take his time.”
Personal and private
After two missed episodes, Lars returned to the podcast, but still didn’t want to say anything. “It is personal, private, sad and it also affects the privacy of others.”
What on earth was that? Just before Christmas, Lars provided a little more clarity about it in his last podcast of the year, but that was a bit forgotten in all the Christmas fuss.
‘Without my ex’
Lars says that he celebrates Christmas without a loved one. “It sounds very bourgeois, but I also celebrate Christmas with the whole family. We have two children, my parents, my sister and her family.”
“There is one change: I will definitely celebrate Christmas without my ex and without my Ukrainian mother-in-law either, because yes, four months ago my ex suddenly disappeared out of the blue.”
Nightmare
That was the big secret in the summer, Victor explains: “Yes, exactly. We had not yet mentioned that in the podcast, but that was the reason why you were of course absent for two episodes in August.”
Lars then indicates that he is single again after twelve years. “Yes. In any case, over the past four months it has felt a bit like I have ended up in an unreal nightmare.”
A lot of hassle
Until her sudden departure, Lars worked for years and years with the award-winning choreographer Milena Sidorova, who also worked for the National Ballet. So she ran away and took his mother-in-law with her. What makes it so sad is that children are also involved here, who apparently stayed behind with Lars.
Lars: “I still can’t speak completely freely, but things are going well now, but people are now reacting very concerned. Everything is going well, just a lot of hassle.”
