Ex-guitarist Brad Ebert makes serious allegations against Turnstile: sexual abuse and unpaid royalties. Brendan Yates denies this. All details here.

Turnstile’s lead guitarist Brad Ebert was already expelled from the group in early 2022. For a long time he remained silent about the circumstances. Since the beginning of this year, however, he has accused his former band colleagues of a number of misconduct – some financial matters, some more serious allegations.

Sexual abuse by band members?

Since last weekend, Brad Ebert has been making serious allegations against his former colleagues. It’s about alleged sexual abuse by singer Brendan Yates and drummer Daniel Fang in the past – especially shortly before and after Brad Ebert’s departure. In addition, there are unpaid royalties. In addition, the guitarist blamed Brendan Yates for the death of his “first real friend Mark Sabitini”.

He shared the allegations through confusing screenshots in his Instagram story. Although this didn’t create a credible chronological picture, he did summarize a few points: According to his own statement, he was not the only victim of sexual abuse by the band. He wrote: “Gymnastics became a group of sex offenders shortly before I left them, and it’s gotten worse since then, according to many women who were involved with them. Delia, Dan’s [Fang] was abused, that’s what comes to mind.”

Elsewhere, the musician shared a more detailed summary of his allegations: “The bottom line is that Turnstile stole millions from me, thousands from charities, gaslighted me, convinced my family, my friends and me that I was the ‘drug addict out of control’ with a fraudulent peace offering in an attempt to stop me from speaking out about their abusive bullshit behavior towards women and others in the community. […] They hoped I would die of suicide or an overdose and not be able to tell my story, but here I am.”

Brendan Yates denies this

In published private chat histories, Yates denied, among other things, Brad Ebert’s accusation of having sex with a minor under the influence of the drug ecstasy: “That never happened,” he wrote and asked his counterpart whether he was high. He answered the question in the affirmative.

The singer also denied the other allegations. He reported threats from Brad Ebert and was visibly hurt: “You could never believe when someone said they loved you, which broke my heart when I tried to show you with all conscience that you were important to me.”

What remains clear is that the situation between the former members is extremely complicated and it remains to be seen who is right in the end and who is guilty of misconduct. What is already certain: Since the events of last weekend, the allegations have been so serious that Turnstile will probably never exist again as it did in days gone by.
