FC Barcelona is worried about a key player. The league is blocking registration, now there may be help from a court.
Good news for FC Barcelona: The Spanish government’s National Sports Council (CSD for short) has given the Catalans hope for the registration of Dani Olmo. So far the Spanish league has banned this for the second half of the season. But according to a report from the radio station Cadena SER, the European champions can also play for FC Barcelona in the second half of the season. However, this is a preliminary decision; the CSD now wants to examine the case in detail. A new turnaround cannot be ruled out. You can find more details about the case here.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick made cautious comments on Tuesday evening. “I don’t expect that we can count on them tomorrow, but we have to wait and see,” Flick said at a press conference before Wednesday’s semi-final against Athletic Bilbao (8 p.m.), which is taking place in Saudi Arabia for marketing reasons.
“The only thing we can do at the moment is wait,” emphasized the 59-year-old. “Dani Olmo is an excellent player, of course we miss him.” Like the league before it, the Spanish football association RFEF had denied the massively indebted club permission to play for Olmo and teammate Pau Víctor.
Flick hopes that his team will emerge stronger from the posse. “We have to show that we are a team,” demanded the former national coach. We now have to move closer together.
