A surreal situation is occurring at the Olimpico Grande Torino stadium, where the derby between Torino and Juve was scheduled for 8.45pm. The match, in fact, has not yet started (it should start at 9.45pm) due to the threats from the Juventus fans to invade the pitch in the event of the kick-off whistle. A climate that closely resembles what happened in Rome on 21 March 2004, when the derby was suspended at half-time due to the uncontrolled rumor that a child had been victim of the clashes that preceded the match.
THE FACTS
—
In this case, everything started due to the injury of a 45-year-old Juventus fan, belonging to the Viking ultras group, who was transported under code red to the Mauriziano hospital and then to the CTO. The man would have been involved in the riots that broke out before the match and which resulted in 8 arrests among Juventus fans. Initially, the reaction of the Juventus supporters was to leave the away sector, then, once they returned, they spoke to captain Locateli who they asked not to play. Juventus CEO Damien Comolli, speaking to Dazn, confirmed: “There is one of our fans in hospital, which is why they are asking not to play but the match is not at risk. After the match I will go to the hospital to talk to the fan if it is possible.” In the meantime, however, the teams have never entered the pitch and Juventus fans have repeatedly chanted chants urging them not to play the match.
