Turbine Potsdam is still waiting for the first win of the season in the women’s Bundesliga. At the start of the 8th matchday, the bottom team conceded a 1:3 (0:0) defeat against fourth-placed TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in front of 713 spectators at their home Karl Liebknecht Stadium.
After conceding goals from Katharina Naschenweng (49th minute), Ereleta Memeti (64th) and Melissa Kössler (65th), only Pauline Deutsch (73rd) scored for Potsdam. With only one point, the situation for the Brandenburg women in the table cellar is getting worse and worse.
The match, which saw Turbine entering the stadium wearing orange armbands to celebrate World Day against Violence against Women, started with clear advantages for the visitors. Potsdam could thank goalkeeper Anna Wellmann and the crossbar of their own goal (Chantal Hagel 32nd minute, Julia Hickelsberger-Füller 39th) that it was still 0-0 at the break.
In the second half, Hoffenheim were able to convert their clear superiority into a goal. After a quick pass, Naschenweng took aim from the edge of the penalty area and gave Wellmann no chance with her shot into the far corner. Shortly thereafter, the post prevented the second Potsdam goal in the now increasing rain.
Memeti finally scored from close range, before seconds later ex-Potsdam player Kössler managed to make it 0:3 while lying down. You have to give Turbine credit for not letting yourself down given the deficit and still scoring the 1:3 through Pauline Deutsch.
