Tuchel: No understanding of the DFB’s trip to America – Nagelsmann introduced Terzic

Squad nomination day

Thomas Tuchel has no understanding for the German national team’s trip to America. “Playing against Mexico in America before a European Championship in Germany – I don’t know if that makes sense to me. “I don’t know if anyone can explain it to me so clearly that I can understand it,” criticized the FC Bayern coach on Friday. New national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team has two international friendly games in mid-October against the USA in Hartford (October 14th/9 p.m.) and Mexico (October 18th/2 a.m.) in Philadelphia. The Munich team is releasing five German professionals for the upcoming international break.

“The German national players come back on Thursday and are on the plane to Mainz on Friday, are on the plane to Istanbul on Monday and come back on Wednesday,” said Tuchel, referring to his team’s games after the international break. “This is at the end of our endurance. No coach at this level will tell them anything different,” he continued. “It’s just that we’re always asked about it, and then everything is decided. Nobody ever asks before you decide something. And they probably know our opinion and don’t want to hear it.”

At some point the Champions League will have more games, the European Championship will be expanded, the World Cup will be expanded. “The games are played thousands of miles apart. You won’t find a club official or a coach who thinks it’s good,” he said. “You won’t find a player who will tell you that I can really reach my performance limit with the schedule.”

Terzic was initiated by Nagelsmann – Hummels “absolutely deserves” his return

Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic has meanwhile expressed his joy about the return of defender Mats Hummels to the DFB. He did not want to evaluate the content of the non-nominations of Emre Can, Nico Schlotterbeck and Karim Adeyemi. “We are happy for Mats, who absolutely deserves this through his performance – and not just this season,” said Terzic and explained to the trio who were not invited by Nagelsmann: “We respect these decisions and will not comment on them. Julian is the national coach, he has to make tough decisions like we do on match days. And of course we keep our fingers crossed for him and the national team.”

Terzic emphasized that the exchange with the new national coach was very close. “Julian contacted me for the first time at the beginning of the week and let me in on his thoughts. “He still had one or two decisions to make,” said Terzic. “Yesterday we wrote and talked on the phone. He explained to me who was there and why and who wasn’t there. And then he contacted each one again.”

In the case of BVB captain Can and Adeyemi, the coach at least commented fundamentally on their situation. Can is very self-critical, “he knows that he hasn’t been in top form recently. But he will come back there. Recently he has already shown increasing performances.” In the case of Adeyemi, Terzic emphasized: “You often forget it, but you can see from the nomination for the U21 how young Karim still is.” But the hapless offensive player is “on one with a good attitude really good way. But that doesn’t work at the push of a button, but only through hard work and hard work.”
