Triumph expands its range of motorcycles downwards. And he does it with a naked-roadster (called Speed 400) and with a Scrambler (precisely Scrambler 400 X). Both draw inspiration in style from the more famous Speed and Scrambler models. And these are completely new projects, developed together with the industrial partner Bajaj, with objectively premium contents. Starting with the performance: the 400 cc single cylinder has 40 hp of power (when, just to make a comparison, the mono of the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has 20.2).

CYCLING

The Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X benefit from a particularly “slim” central section of the frame which, combined with a seat height from the ground respectively of 790 and 835mm and at a weight of 170 and 179 kg respectively, it ensures excellent handling ease. Both models benefit from an optimized chassis compartment, with a main frame to which the rear frame is bolted and connected to an aluminum swingarm. The suspension set up is specific for the intended use of the two bikes.

speed 400

The Speed 400 is equipped at the front with a 43 mm big-piston upside-down fork, while at the rear a monoshock system with external tank is mounted. Circles from 17 inches they are made of lightweight aluminum, in line with an urban roadster philosophy. The braking system features a 300 mm disc and radial-type 4-piston calipers.

SCRAMBLER 400 X

The Scrambler 400 X has a longer wheelbase and longer travel suspension, a larger diameter front wheel 19 inches and a wider handlebar. The rear brake pedal is also wider and more generous, easily operated even when riding standing up, also because it is mounted lower and further forward thanks to the repositioned footrests compared to the roadster. The front brake changes to a diameter of 320 mm and features differentiated compound pads to make braking more progressive and easily modulated.

EQUIPMENT

Both models have premium level equipment: Bosch electronics, accelerator ride by wiredisengageable traction control, dual-channel ABS (can be deactivated on the Scrambler, for off-road driving), power-assisted clutch, in addition to full LED lighting and standard immobiliser.

COLORS AND PRICES

The liveries chosen for the Speed 400 are in two tones, with Triumph graphics on the tank: the colors available are Carnival Red, Caspian Blue and Phantom Black. The all-road personality of the Scrambler 400 X is reflected in some additional equipment, such as protections reserved for the front headlight and radiator, hand guards and an oversized front mudguard. There Scrambler 400 X will be available in 3 color variants: Matt Khaki Green & Fusion White, Carnival Red & Phantom Black, or Phantom Black & Silver Ice. Prices are still being defined, given that the bikes will arrive on western markets in early 2024.
