In May 2025, a message went through Germany that was supposed to sail for a long time: rapper Xatar died at the age of 43. Almost exactly a year later, on May 7, 2026, his life’s work and legacy are celebrated in the Cologne Lanxess Arena with a large memorial concert.
With Giwar Hajabi, known as Xatar, the German music scene not only lost a musician, but also an entrepreneur and a hip-hop genius. For Rolling Stone, Aria Nejati wrote: “Xatar was a possible maker. For people who were never invited. For talents that nobody wanted to see. For life stories that were never told.”
It is therefore only logical that the legacy of the exceptional artist on May 7, 2026 is duly celebrated. The “Tribute to Xatar” memorial concert combines fans, friend: inside, musical companions: inside and a wide variety of surprise guest: inside that pay tribute together to the rapper. In the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, everything will be about Giwar Hajabi that evening.
His management explains: “A concert in honor of Giwar and on the occasion of his annual day. An evening that leads us to – and ears – how far you can bring it when we believe in our dreams. From the street, to the prime time in the largest arena in the country.”

Hip-hop scene is reminiscent of Xatar
After the announcement of his death on May 9, 2025, Xatar’s companions from the rap scene said goodbye to him.
“My condolences to the family and the friends !!! A true German rap legend has gone from us. I am very sad that we never got to know each other in real life … For me, Xatar was one of the largest in this country. Which rapper could embody so much style, aesthetics, real hip-hop and gangster Attitude … Family and friends !!! ”, Fler wrote in a statement via Instagram.
