Transfer battle for Jérôme Boateng has broken out?

At FC Bayern he did not get a contract, in the Italian series A Jérôme Boateng is apparently in great demand.

Several clubs are said to be seeking the services of the now 35-year-old 2014 world champion, reports “Sky” reporter Florian Plettenberg via X (formerly Twitter).

The bottom of the table, US Salernitana, is still in pole position for Boateng. A conversation with coach Filippo Inzaghi is planned for Wednesday, writes Plettenberg.

An agreement on the financial details of Boateng’s contract, on which the deal has recently been still haking, is now said to be close. However, the veteran has not yet completed a medical check at Salernitana.

The Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also recently reported on negotiations between Boateng and Salernitana. The professional, who has been without a club since the summer, is said to be in Italy with his manager Tolga Dirican to find a new club.

Local media reported that Boateng would probably earn around half a million euros for a six-month commitment to the relegation candidate. It is unclear whether he now wants to examine the offers of other clubs that may be better placed in the table.

No contract for Jérôme Boateng at FC Bayern

Boateng’s contract with Olympique Lyon of the French Ligue 1 expired last summer. In the meantime, he kept fit at FC Bayern.

However, the German record champions ultimately did not give him a contract despite his defensive personnel concerns – mainly because of the background noise surrounding the criminal trial against the ex-national player. “We analyzed the situation, the overall situation at Jérôme, which is not only sporty, unfortunately,” explained coach Thomas Tuchel.

Boateng had played very successfully at FC Bayern from 2011 to 2021. Then came the disappointing interlude in Lyon.

In Salernitana he would meet his old companion Franck Ribéry. He ended his professional career there in autumn 2022 and has now been employed as a technology trainer.
