Head coach Kenan Kocak from third division SV Sandhausen draws personal consequences after the defeat on Sunday against SC Verl.
Kenan Kocak is no longer more than the head coach of SV Sandhausen. This was confirmed by the third division on Sunday evening, just a few hours after the 1: 3 home defeat against SC Verl.
Kovak makes his office “with immediate effect”, says a statement.
“The decision is very difficult for me, because the SVS, the people and the region mean a lot to me. For SV Sandhausen, who is above everything, I would like to clear the way for a new impulse. I wish the club the deserved relegation,” said the 44-year-old.
Sandhausen President Jürgen Machmeier paid Kenan Kocak “respect” for his decision, “although it is humanly perceived as a tragedy”. In the end, however, it is always about the club, “Kenan aptly recognized that. We have hope that the decision will trigger an impulse in the team.
The third division club has been waiting for a win since the 23rd matchday, the Sandhauseners received seven defeats from the last eight games. Overall, the team has only won one victory and two draws in twelve games since Kocak’s takeover. In the table, the club slipped to 18th place and is thus in acute relegation risk.
Dennis Diekmeier takes over interim
A temporary successor solution has already been found: Until the end of the season, Gerhard Kleppinger and Dennis Diekmeier take over the management of the team.
Kleppinger has repeatedly stepped in in recent years when Sandhausen was not on the man. Most recently, he was on the sidelines in the end of the season of last season until Sreto Ristic had taken over as head coach. Ristic only kept it in office until shortly before Christmas before Kocak took over.
Dennis Diekmeier moved to the SVS coaching team last summer after the end of his long professional career, where he took over the assistant coach post from Gerhard Kleppinger. Now the former HSV defender and 203-time Bundesliga players are responsible for the first time.
The coaching team is repositioning itself under the duo. In the course of the withdrawal, the co-trainers of Stamatopoulos and Emre Büyükakpinar are released with immediate effect, the club said.
