Train takes wrong turn and suddenly drives in the other direction: ‘Really exceptional’ | Interior

“Due to an animal on the track between Utrecht and Gouda, the train had already suffered a considerable delay,” NS spokesperson Arno Leblanc outlines the situation. At Woerden, the train, which was on its way to Gouda and The Hague, was suddenly sent to Bodegraven. A station that is not on the route of this train.

“The staff immediately intervened and then adjusted the train.” The sprinter was sent back to Woerden, where travelers could get off. “This is really an exceptional incident,” said Leblanc. “Of course we find it very annoying for the passengers.” It is not clear exactly how things could go wrong.

Klaas-Willem de Jong was on the wrong train. “Never before,” he writes on Twitter. According to him, after taking the wrong turn, the train stopped for some time in the polder, close to Waarder and Nieuwerbrug.

It is not the first time that something goes wrong with a train in the Groene Hart. A few weeks ago, about a thousand travelers were seated stuck in a pitch dark train for hours at Gouda. Complaints from duped passengers then poured in on Twitter.
