Train rams bus in half in Bergen op Zoom: ‘Thank God no passengers in bus’ | Inland

A train has collided with a bus at a railway crossing in Bergen op Zoom. The havoc is enormous: the train ran straight through the bus. There were no passengers and the driver was miraculously uninjured.

The bus was completely broken in half by the collision around 9:50 a.m. The havoc at the transition at the Marconilaan is enormous. The bus driver was checked in an ambulance. The Security Region initially announced that he was injured in the collision, but after a check by a nurse, he was found to be unharmed.

Empty bus

“Thank God the bus was empty, except for the driver,” says the Security Region in a response. It is still unknown how the bus could stand on the crossing while a train was approaching.

There are no injuries among the passengers on the train. The police have cordoned off the area. The overhead lines appear to be intact for the time being. The havoc on the railway crossing and the road will be cleaned up as a matter of priority. Train traffic between Bergen op Zoom and Zeeland has come to a standstill.
