Train collides with carnival float: driver injured, carnival goers not

A train collided with a carnival float late on Sunday evening at the railway crossing on Zevenbergseweg in Berghem. The train and the carnival float were seriously damaged. The train driver was injured and taken to a hospital.

The carnival revelers escaped unscathed.

The track was littered with debris. They were collected together by the fire brigade.

Train traffic between Nijmegen and Oss will be halted until noon on Monday afternoon, the NS expects. Replacement transport was arranged for the hundred passengers of the stranded train. Rail manager ProRail took care of this.

Dutch Safety Board
The police are investigating. The Dutch Safety Board has also been involved.

The first report of the accident on the Zevenbergseweg came in around half past eleven on Sunday evening.
