The biggest delays are on the A7 from Hoorn to Zaanstad. The traffic jam between Avenhorn and Zaandijk has increased to 18 kilometers, adding about 25 minutes to travel time.

Closure of N247 causes extra traffic

The crowds on the A7 are related to: a closure of an important exit towards the N247. Traffic that normally travels via Amsterdam-Noord is therefore diverted and ends up on the A7 more often.

This creates extra traffic pressure around Purmerend and Wijdewormer, causing traffic jams to develop more quickly or last longer.

Traffic is piling up around Purmerend

It is not only busy on the A7. Surrounding roads are also full. There is a 3 kilometer traffic jam on the N235 from Amsterdam to Purmerend, with a delay of no less than 26 minutes.

In addition, it is also busy on the N244 from Edam towards Alkmaar. There is a 2 kilometer traffic jam between Purmerend and the connection with the A7, with a delay of approximately 6 minutes.
