The signs for Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks continue to point to farewell, and the playmaker’s management is now working with the Georgia franchise to find a new team. Two candidates are probably out, but Young has a specific desired goal.

As NBA insider Jake Fischer reports, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Brooklyn Nets were brought into play as attractive destinations around Young. However, this interest is not mutual. “I was told that neither the Timberwolves nor the Nets are currently interested in him,” said Fischer.

The reason for this is the high price that is being asked for the four-time All-Star. “How many key players would the Wolves have to give up to make up for Young’s salary? The answer: too many,” explains the insider. Minnesota would have similar problems as the Milwaukee Bucks; a Young trade would, in theory, cost both franchises a lot.

According to Shams Charania (ESPN), Young has listed the Washington Wizards as his preferred destination. The 27-year-old earns $46 million this season and also has a player option for $49 million for 2026/27.

In terms of sport, Young’s season has been bumpy so far; due to injuries, he was only able to play ten games, in which he averaged 19.3 points and 8.9 assists. It is his eighth season in Atlanta – and probably his last.
