Following Torino’s home match against Udinese which they lost 1-2, the Granata coach Marco Baroni spoke at the press conference to answer questions from journalists present at the Olimpico Grande Torino stadium. Below are all the statements from the Granata coach.

Why these continuous ups and downs? It didn’t seem like we saw the Verona team…

“The team worked hard and I can’t blame much. Clearly we made some technical errors. Zaniolo’s shot in the first half came from a ball given away by us, as did the first goal. We’re sorry because every time we’re there for the jump… We’re sorry for the defeats we suffer at home, but we’re convinced that this team will find the energy to start again.”

What responses did you get from Aboukhlal and Ilkhan, players who you had already fielded last time, and from the returning Ngonge and Anjorin?

“Ilkhan had a decent first half, he improved in the second then I took him off because he asked me to substitute. Aboukhlal came on many times in the first half. Their performances were encouraging for the future of both of them. Njie worked hard, he could have been helped a little more. I saw willpower and certainly little technical cleanliness, but it’s due to the game being so close”

Why weren’t Biraghi, Sazonov and Nkounkou called up?

“These are my technical choices. We are in a market phase, we are giving a line to follow and we try to be consistent with this line”

What didn’t work up front?

“We were playing against a tough team, difficult to face when they get down. It wasn’t an easy match. In my opinion we paid for the close match. I can’t say the team didn’t work hard, they weren’t lucid in the finishing area and we lost a few balls which we paid dearly for.”
