Former tennis world number one Simona Halep (Romania) is taking a several-week break from the tournament to recover from a nose operation.
The 30-year-old announced this on social networks. The surgery, combined with a plastic surgery, was “the only way” to resolve long-term respiratory problems that had become more severe in the summer, Halep continued. The ninth in the world rankings was eliminated in the first round at the US Open in New York.
