The number of tourists who spent the night in Drenthe last year increased by more than 22 percent compared to a year earlier. This is evident from figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
For these figures, we looked at the number of people who stayed in a hotel, motel, guest house, apartment, youth accommodation, bed and breakfast, camping site, cottage area or group accommodation. Statistics Netherlands does not have any figures about the distribution in Drenthe and how many of them came from abroad.
Nationally, the number of overnight stays rose by 40 percent to 44 million. “That is about the level before the outbreak of the corona pandemic.” In Drenthe, too, the number of guests staying here is at a reasonable level again. Compared to 2019 (i.e. the period before corona), this is an increase of almost 5 percent.
