Tour of the Dauphiné: Laporte celebrates opening victory – Brenner in front

Christophe Laporte has won the opening stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. The German talent Marco Brenner convinced with a top ten place.

The 20-year-old Brenner finished on Sunday (June 4th, 2023) after 158 kilometers around Chambon sur Lac Tenth place, while Laporte secured the lead in the overall standings with the opening win. Emanuel Buchmann, who competed in the traditional preparatory race Tour de France for a place in the most important race of the season, already lost 20 seconds on the hilly section.

Mountain arrival on Monday

Climbing qualities are also in demand on Monday. At the end of the 167.3 kilometers from Brassac les Mines after La Chaise Dieu is a good four kilometer long climb to over 1000 meters altitude. The stage race, which includes Tour champion Jonas Vingegaard, ends in Grenoble on Sunday.
