Status: 02.04.2023 2:10 p.m

The Polish professional cyclist Filip Maciejuk has been disqualified at the 107th Tour of Flanders after triggering a mass fall.

The 23-year-old got into a ditch about 142 kilometers before the finish line in the spring classic on Sunday (04/02/2023) and cleared a large part of the field when he jumped back onto the road.

Pogacar helper Wellens has to give up after a fall

The Belgian Tim Wellens, an important helper of the favorite Tadej Pogacar (Slovenia), had to retire from the race. Victory contender Wout van Aert from Belgium was affected, as were former world champions Julian Alaphilippe (France) and Peter Sagan (Slovakia). The field then slowed down until the drivers who had fallen had caught up again. The organizers excluded Maciejuk from the race a few minutes after the fall.
