A team change from cycling superstar Remco Evenepoel takes on concrete forms.

As cycling expert Daniel Benson reports, Remco Evenepoel is faced with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe before moving from Soudal Quick-Step. The contract has not yet been signed, but the deal was concluded “to 70 to 80 percent”.

Benson had learned the latest developments of people familiar with the negotiations, he said. At Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, Evenepoel is to sign a contract until 2029.

The rumor mill around Evenepoel has been bubbling since the takeover of the German top racing team by Red Bull. Last autumn, however, the double Olympic champion had still rejected a change.

“Nothing will change in 2025. I will stay with my team and we will do everything we can to achieve my big goals,” the Belgian had clarified and added: “I am glad that speculation will stop now.”

Cycling: Ten million units for Remco Evenepoel?

Back then, cycling journalist Michel Wuyts provided further details about the offer from Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe. “The contract for Evenepoel was already ready for signature. Ten million euros per year plus three helpers including team managers [Klaas] Lodewyck, “he wrote in his column for the newspaper” Het Laatste Nieuws “.

Former Armstrong team boss Johan Bruyneel also claimed that the change from Evenepoel was imminent at the time. “The plug was only pulled in the last minute,” he said in “The Move” podcast.

According to his information, Red Bull had even had clothes with the name of Evenepoel produced. “I heard that everything was clear between Evenepoel and Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe,” said Bruyneel.

After the current season, however, the change actually seems to be going on.
