Tottenham confirm Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou as manager

“Has a strong track record”

Ange Postecoglou becomes the new coach at English giants Tottenham Hotspur. This was confirmed by the eighth Premier League on Tuesday. The 57-year-old comes from Celtic Glasgow, where his contract expires at the end of the season. With The Bhoys, Postecoglou has won five titles since taking office in 2021, including the domestic treble of league, cup and league cup this season.

Postecoglou signs a four-year deal with Tottenham and becomes Australia’s first Premier League boss. He succeeds Antonio Conte, who was resigned at the end of March after harshly criticizing his team and club. His longtime assistant Cristian Stellini took over on an interim basis, but was also released after one point from four games. The season ended with Ryan Mason, who was technical coach under Conte and interim coach in 2021. Tottenham missed out on international business for the first time since the 2009/10 season.

“Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, offensive style of play. He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the academy connection – everything that is important to our club. We are delighted that Ange is joining us while we prepare for the coming season,” said CEO Daniel Levy, who is said to have previously held talks with Julian Nagelsmann, among others. In addition, Luis Enrique, Xabi Alonso or Oliver Glasner were traded as Conte’s successors.
