The Toronto Maple Leafs are worried about their defender Chris Tanev. The 35-year-old was injured in the 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils.
After the game, head coach Craig Berube took notice and explained that the veteran could possibly miss out.
Tanev was accidentally hit in the head by Devils striker Dawson Mercer in a confusing fight for the puck in the second period, where he remained on the ground and then had to leave the ice.
Tanev signed a six-year, $27 million contract with the Canadiens in the offseason before last season. So far this season, the man from East York has been on the ice in all seven games, accumulating an average ice time of 17:42 minutes.
The Maple Leafs continue their game against the Buffalo Sabers on Saturday night (1:30 a.m.).
