Vaasan Sport announced on Friday that Topi Rönn20, the player agreement has been terminated at the player’s initiative.
The club said in the first half of April that he had signed a two -year player agreement with Rönn. There was a rapid rise, as Rönni was sentenced to one year’s prison sentence in the Helsinki District Court in March 2024 for rape as a young person.
Rönni was part of the Vaasa Sport for about three weeks.
Iltalehti reached Sport’s CEO Jonne Kemppainenwho comments on the organization’s recent solution.
Can you wait for such a reception to Rönn’s contract?
– From the beginning, we realized that it was sensitive. We were all, Rönn’s side and we, were prepared. What we did not fully understand or what we could not prepare was, in part, even an aggressive approach to a single recruitment.
Rönni commented in a news release published on Friday that he doesn’t want to interfere with the team’s preparation for the upcoming season. According to Kemppainen, such harm has not occurred.
– Training starts on Monday. The team has not yet gathered together. Rönni did not want to cause the team to be harmful to preparation for next season, and we appreciate Rönn’s honesty and outrightness in this matter.

Is feedback from the team already up -to -date to the club leadership?
– Just understanding. It is the job of experienced players to carry younger on their shoulders than in the matter. Sure, the team will not meet until Monday, but there has been no negative feedback from that point.
Is it known whether Rönni has received personal negative feedback?
– My own understanding is that feedback has been mostly public and mostly focused on us and our partners.
If you could go back in time, would you re -make the contract?
– When we assessed the importance of the punishment suffered by Topi Rönn during the agreement, we came to the conclusion that he had credibly regretted his act, apologized for both the victim and publicly, discussed with the psychologist and tried to reconcile his actions. At the same time, in the discussions, we kept in mind the principle prevailing in Finnish society that one must have the opportunity to receive equal treatment after the punishment was suffered. This situation has not changed.
