A 16-year-old Tilburger was arrested on Thursday after he cunningly robbed 94-year-old Tonnie Hendriks from Goirle on Tuesday. This is reported by the police. The boy reported himself to the police, a photo of him had appeared on social media.
The police are calling on everyone to remove the photo from social media. It is not yet clear whether all of the woman’s belongings have been returned.
On Tuesday, Tonnie Hendriks handed over all her valuables to someone ‘from the police’ in good faith. But then it became clear that she had fallen for a chat trick and would probably never see the stuff again.
Daughter Els Verhoeven told her story at Omroep Brabant on Wednesday. She said that her mother’s late husband’s wedding ring had disappeared, her own jewelry, and also the money she had set aside for a big party.
She has only just heard the news of the arrest, she is very happy that the boy has been caught. Mother Tonnie is also relieved. The big question is whether Tonnie will actually get all her stuff back. The police are now talking to the family and are investigating what has gone and what has been found.
