Javelin thrower Toni Kuusela threw a result of 80.67 in the competition held in Lappeenranta, which is this season’s new domestic top result.

Kuusela’s second best throw was 80.42. In his opening race of the season in Germany, Kuusela threw 77.65.

– After the competition in Germany, I knew that the team has power. I thought that I would throw one competition before the Paavo Nurmi Games, so I could catch the plot of the throw a little better. Here, the minimum goal was 80 meters and the throws worked really well, especially in the warm-up. Now just throw the Napsu super company out of the competition, Kuusela said in the Sports Association’s press release.

On the running track Samuel Purola clocked a new Finnish all-time best time of 33.27 in the 300-meter race. However, the trip in question is very rare, and the Sports Confederation has not confirmed Finnish records for it.

The previous record for the trip was from last year, when Eljas Aalto ran a time of 33.48. In the hall, 300 meters has been run faster than Purola Juha Pyy in 1986 on an extra-long track.

However, Purola was not satisfied with his second race of the season.

– Bad day. During the run, I felt that the step was not taking off and at the end the run was quite boring, but it was a good run for today’s mood. It was still quite cold, which contributed to getting stronger, Purola commented.

Triple jumper Senni Salminen opened her season in Lappeenranta, but this time it was the long jump.

Salminen jumped a result of 616 in very rough weather.
