After Daniel Scherning switched to Arminia Bielefeld at short notice, VfL Osnabrück took its time looking for a successor, but has now apparently identified the new head coach. According to the “Picture” Tobias Schweinsteiger, currently still an assistant at 1.FC Nuremberg, will take over the third division from next week.
In April, Schweinsteiger extended his contract with the “Club” until 2023, but is now leaving the second division due to the prospect of becoming head coach. For the 40-year-old, VfL will be the first station in charge after having worked as an assistant coach in the youth team at FC Bayern and Hamburger SV as well as in Nuremberg. Bastian Schweinsteiger’s brother is said to be on the bench for FCN’s second division duel against HSV on Saturday evening.
