Bundesilga: Bayern Munich-Borussia Moenchengladbach 1-1

Thuram’s goals in the 43rd minute and Sané in the 83rd minute decide: Inter’s next opponents in the Champions League now share the top of the table with Union Berlin

Surprising result, convincing performance. Bayern Munich, Inter’s next European opponent, clashes once again against their own black beast Borussia Moenchengladbach and does not go beyond 1-1. Goals from Thuram (43 ‘) and Sané (83’) decide. The Bavarians will thus have to share the leadership in the standings with Union Berlin who humiliated Schalke in the afternoon by winning with a sensational 6-1 in Gelsenkirchen. Nagelsmann’s team (who in the final minutes sends De Ligt to play the center forward) has created a lot, finding Sommer in the evening of grace. The German champions deserved more, but with Gladbach, which in recent years is the team that has beaten the Bavarians most of all, luck often turns the other way.

THE RACE

Nagelsmann chooses the usual 4-2-3-1 with De Ligt who sits back on the bench and Coman, Müller and Sané behind Mané. The Bavarians dominated immediately, so much so that after 53 seconds, on a corner action, Upamecano tested Sommer’s reflexes. Bayern’s pressing is suffocating and Gladbach struggles to get out of their own half, to the point that the goal seems to be in the air: Mané misses an opportunity at 19 ‘, Coman just misses the door on 22’, then they even come two goals were canceled for Mané (at 34 ‘and 39’): on the first occasion, on an assist from Müller, he put the ball into the goal and came out on the far post, but the Var intervenes due to an irregular position by Sané, on the second occasion he is the former Liverpool to be offside. Suddenly, however, the advantage of Gladbach arrives, hitherto never dangerous: at 43 ‘Kramer sweeps to free his trocar, almost involuntarily throwing Thuram who, in the open field, holds Upamecano’s return and beats Neuer.

THE SHOOT

In the second half Bayern slows down a bit and Gladbach, albeit suffering, concedes field but no chances: the Bavarians are seen in the 61st minute, when Mané, from an excellent position, is hypnotized by Sommer. The Swiss goalkeeper also exalts himself in the 64th minute (very cold in one on one with Sané), then, in the 72nd minute with a great double save on Gnabry and Müller. At 77 ‘Kimmich tries, directly from a corner kick, but hits the post. Bayern pushed and found the deserved equalizer in the 83rd minute: Musiala was quick to serve the ball to Sané who, from the heart of the area, kicks first and takes Sommer in backlash. Bayern are also looking for victory, but Sommer is good in the 87th minute over Davies. At 90 ‘we also see Gladbach, who on the counterattack, with Thuram, has the opportunity to take the lead (but Neuer is careful). The Bavarians respond with an indidiosissimo shot from outside De Ligt (deployed attacker in the final minutes), on which Sommer is still very reactive. Another opportunity at 94 ‘, with Musiala shooting high from an excellent position. It ends like this, with Bayern being hooked to the top of the standings by Union Berlin, but that even on a bad day proves stronger.
