At 20, Billie Eilish sets a new record as the youngest main act in Glastonbury’s 52-year history. The pop singer was particularly proud to be able to headline alongside the likes of Paul McCartney.
“The Beatles raised me,” Eilish told NME. Reading her name next to Paul McCartney at the same festival is “crazy”. She discovered her love of music through the Beatles. Incidentally, McCartney is the oldest headliner at the festival – it doesn’t matter to Eilish. “It doesn’t matter how old you are, where you’re from, what you look like or who you are, you can do this shit.”
Alongside Paul McCartney and Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar will also appear as a main act on June 26th. The 20-year-old remembered going to a rapper’s concert when she was 14.
“A Dark Day for Women”
During her performance at the Glastonbury Festival, it wasn’t just music that played a role. Billie Eilish spoke out on the Supreme Court’s controversial decision to overturn abortion rights in the United States. “Today is a really, really dark day for women in the United States,” the 20-year-old said.
