“It’s a puzzle,” said the public prosecutor about the stab incident on New Year’s Eve in the Irisstraat in Hoogeveen. The victim walked a blow and a torn breast muscle. But by what and especially by whom? The Public Prosecution Service (OM) touches in the dark.

The public prosecutor therefore asked the 33-year-old suspect from Hoogeveen today. It is certain that the suspect with his girlfriend’s dog walked around late that night. He walked towards the victim’s home. It is also certain that both men are certainly not allowed to do each other. They are colleagues and often have disagreement at work.

The suspect stated before the judge that he saw his rival with friends at a fire pit. The other man would have come to him. “With a wooden bar, I was hit on my head,” said the suspect. Both men rolled along the street shortly thereafter. “An ordinary fight,” said the public prosecutor. According to the bystanders, the fighters stood up again shortly thereafter.

Then the victim felt blood flowing past his arm and belly. His friends called the police. The suspect denies that he has stabbed. No knife has been found that can be linked to the stabbing. Also, no blood was found on the clothes and hands of the suspect. Something must have happened during the fight, but the public prosecutor cannot put a finger on it.

The suspect has been in custody for more than half a year. He has to wait another two weeks for the final decision of the judge.
