Timothy Dupont wins the Middelkerke beach race

From Westende to Middelkerke and back. 2 laps, a total of about 40 kilometers in the sand. After the starting signal, the participants first brave a long stretch of 5 kilometers. With the wind at their backs they reach speeds of up to 55 kilometers per hour.

Aaron Verwilst, Jonas Rickaert, Timothy Dupont and ex-winner Thomas Joseph were immediately at the front. Then everything fell apart. The three of Verwilst, Dupont and Rickaert pulled through strongly and freed themselves from the pursuers. Dupont and Verwilst extended their lead. The dunes determined the course of the race. Dupont took off on a difficult stretch and rode to victory. Aaron Verwilst crossed the line second, Thomas Joseph came third, just ahead of Jonas Rickaert. For the women, Grace Verbeke wins for the third year in a row.
