For Timo Werner, Tottenham Hotspur is not going well. Now the 28-year-old has to cope with another setback.

26 competitive games, one goal: This is the meager yield of Timo Werner this season at the English team Tottenham Hotspur. The long -time German international (57 caps, 24 goals) simply no longer finds on the track – and must not even prove itself on European stage.

As Tottenham announced on Friday, Werner was painted out of the squad for the Europa League together with his colleagues Fraser Forster and Radu Drăgușin. The ex-Bundesliga professional Kevin Danso, Djed Spence and Mathys Tel.

The French under-national player was only awarded a few days ago by FC Bayern to London. According to reports, Tottenham has a purchase option for Tel of 60 million euros.

The 19-year-old is the only newly reported offensive power to be the direct replacement for Werner in the club’s Europa League squad. Tel made his debut for Tottenham during the week. In the semi -finals of the league cup, however, there was a bitter bankruptcy at Liverpool FC (0: 4), in which the newcomer did not yet know how to go.

Timo Werner, meanwhile, has to worry about receiving even less playing time. In the Premier League, he currently only comes to 500 minutes, and coach Posetecoglou is usually only substituted. The World Cup 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico with the German national team is moving further away for him. He hadn’t even been nominated for the European Championship last year. He played his last international match in March 2023.

Werner is awarded by Bundesliga club RB Leipzig to Tottenham. In the Saxons, he once developed into a striker with an international format. After a multi -million dollar change to Chelsea FC 2020, Werner was no longer so accurate, although he even won the Champions League with the club. In 2022 he returned to Leipzig. The second commitment to the “red bulls” was crowned by significantly less success.
