Tim van Rijthoven beats Felix Auger-Aliassime and is in the final Rosmalen | Tennis

Van Rijthoven continued his strong form of this week flawlessly in the first set. He gave nothing away on his own serve and struck at the only break he got on the serve of Auger-Aliassime.

In the second set there were chances for the Canadian for a break. The first was served out by Van Rijthoven, but after that it was a hit and Auger-Aliassime had his break. The Dutch revelation then seemed to have lost it for a while and also handed in his next service, so that it was quickly over in set two.

Van Rijthoven recovered nicely, as he was once again playing solid tennis in the third set. With a 2-1 lead, he even made it to 0-40 during a service game by Auger-Aliassime. The number nine in the world showed his class at that time and eliminated all three break chances and kept his serve. Two service games later it was 0-40 for the Dutchman again. Once again, the Canadian rose and smashed his way to game wins from a precarious position.

A tie-break had to bring the decision. Van Rijthoven was the first to force a mini-break. He cashed in on this by keeping his own serve afterwards. He got three set points. The first two were on his opponent’s serve, but then he was allowed to serve for the win himself and he didn’t fail.
