Tim Commerford probably has nothing to say about Rage Against The Machine

“I don’t know it. I won’t be involved. I’m the bass player.”

Earlier this year, Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk announced in an Instagram post that the rock band would never tour or play live again. So far, the other three members have not commented on this.

Tim Commerford on the future of Rage Against The Machine

In Tim Commerford’s case, however, this was only because he had nothing to add to the statement. “I don’t know it. I won’t get involved in that. I am the bass player. I’m just waiting for someone to tell me what to do. Brad said what he said, but he’s a step above me. He’s number three. I’m the lowest man on the totem pole. That’s all I can tell you. I am the bass player. The bass players are always the last to find out about this kind of shit,” says the drummer in an interview with the American ROLLING STONE when asked whether RATM is actually history.

However, Commerford does not rule out future activities for the band. “If the rage light shines in the clouds, like the Bat-Signal that Batman would see and know to do some shit… that’s how I live it. And that’s the best feeling for me.”

For now, however, Tim Commerford and his RATM colleagues have their attention elsewhere. The drummer shared that Wilk just had a baby while frontman Zack de la Rocha is still recovering from his Achilles tendon injury sustained during the 2022 reunion tour.

Commerford also continues to struggle with health concerns. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2020 and although his levels are good, he remains vigilant. “If you have prostate cancer, your PSA (prostate-specific antigen) level will be tested. At the moment I have a value of zero. But I get tested every three months. “I will be very stressed before the next test,” he explains.

With his current musical project 7D7D he will continue to release music together with drummer Mathias Wakrat and guitarist Jonny Polonsky.
