“True Detective” is getting a fifth season

The new season of “True Detective” will be directed and produced by Issa López.

The US cable channel HBO has announced that it will continue “True Detective”. After the fourth season finale of “Night Country,” the contract for another season of the anthology series is set to be renewed. The fifth season will also be developed and designed under the direction of Issa López, who replaced the creator of the franchise Nic Pizzolatto after his contract expired and he moved to Disney. López described “Night Country” as “the most beautiful collaboration and greatest adventure of my entire creative life,” which is why she can’t wait for the new season.

“True Detective: “Night Country” surpasses all previous seasons

One reason for the extension was probably the success of the fourth season. Because “Night Country” is the most-watched season of “True Detective,” surpassing the first season of the series with 12.7 million viewers across multiple platforms. The season finale on February 18th was the most-watched episode of the season with 3.2 million viewers on HBO and Max. This represents an increase of 57 percent compared to the first episode in January.
