Germany wants to show off at the Handball World Cup. In the last test match before the tournament, however, things were extremely close against Brazil.

Before the handball world championship starting on Tuesday, the German team is in rather mediocre form. The team won a hard-fought game against outsiders Brazil in Hamburg with 28:26 (13:17).

In the last test before the world tournament, national coach Gislason’s team struggled until the end. The German Handball Federation (DHB) team was behind for almost the entire second half.

“It was a lot of hard work today,” said captain Johannes Golla on ZDF: “We made an incredible number of missed throws. We have to demand that we do it better.”

“This is a wake-up call for us. Nothing is given to you,” said national coach Alfred Gislason after the game. Two days ago, the Germans showed an unconvincing performance against outsiders Brazil, especially in the first half – although they won 32:25 (13:13) in the end.
