Bayern are also the team of the moment in Europe. After two goals from Luis Díaz, they won against the defending champions despite the Colombian being sent off.
Julian Buhl reports from Paris
After the show of strength in Paris, Vincent Kompany stormed onto the pitch and celebrated the biggest victory of the season so far alongside his self-sacrificing players. FC Bayern, initially brilliant and then outnumbered for a long time, continued its winning streak against Champions League defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. The Colombian Luis Díaz shone in the 2-1 (2-0) – the 16th win in the 16th game of the season – on Tuesday evening in the Prinzenpark, first as a double goalscorer (4th/32nd minute) – and then became a bitter red card.
Shortly before the half-time whistle, the overzealous winger hit PSG defender Achraf Hakimi hard on the foot when making a tackle near the halfway line. However, when PSG had the majority, they only hit back once through substitute Portuguese João Neves (74′).
“In the second half it was of course a completely different game. I think in the first half you could see who was the better team. It’s not that easy with ten men. It was a fight in the second half,” said captain Manuel Neuer on Prime Video and added: “We do that often enough in training that we play outnumbered against outnumbered, ten against eight. Then we want to defend really well. We proved that today that we can do that.”
This is also reflected in the Munich-based t-online ratings. Not a single player received a worse grade than the three in the individual criticism. Luis Díaz also gets away with one of these again – even though he endangered Munich’s victory with his red card. You can read the complete individual review in the photo show above or here.
