A serious accident happened on the N269 in Hilvarenbeek on Sunday afternoon. Two cars collided, causing one car to flip over. One driver was seriously injured, two others escaped with less serious injuries. It concerns an 18-year-old man from Hilvarenbeek, a 57-year-old man from Tilburg and a 54-year-old woman from the same place.
The accident happened around half past three in the afternoon. The two cars collided for unknown reasons. The gray car veered off the road, crashed into some trees, flipped over and then landed back on its wheels. The red car came to a stop on the roadside.
An air ambulance and three ambulances, among others, arrived at the scene of the accident.
Driver trapped
The roof of the gray car was dented by the hard impact, trapping the driver. The fire brigade freed him from his car and cut open the roof. The man was seriously injured and was treated by a trauma doctor. He was then rushed to hospital. The two occupants of the other car were also injured and taken to hospital.
The road is littered with debris and will be closed for hours for investigations. There is a long traffic jam and the connection with the A58 is closed. It is still unclear how the accident could happen. The police have confiscated the mobile phones of both drivers.
